At Luther House of Study, everything we do is connected to our mission of strengthening Lutheran leadership and ministries for the proclamation of the Gospel.
That mission shapes not only what we teach, but how we teach it, and why we organize our program the way we do. Every offering, from our seminary courses to our free online resources, exists to help pastors and congregations preach and hear the Gospel.

Supporting the call to ministry
At the forefront of this mission is, of course, our seminary program. We are committed to supporting our students and graduates at every stage of their education and calling, from the time they hear that call, to their ordination and pastoral life.
What exactly is a call? That’s something we’re serious about helping people discern.
The call to pursue seminary education always comes from the outside. Though there may be an internal nudge or curiosity to learn more about Scripture, theology, or God, that call is always confirmed by voices beyond ourselves—a pastor, a mentor, a friend, or even a congregation.
When we meet someone who feels that itch to learn more, we invite them to sit in on our classes at no cost. Students will quickly see whether they have the capacity or desire to learn more, and we at Luther House can help affirm that call.
Eliminating financial barriers
Our mission-driven approach is possible because of the generosity of donors who share our vision. Thanks to our supportive network of individuals, congregations, and pastors we are able to:
- Offer free resources to pastors and congregations around the world
- Keep our tuition affordable—just $300 per month for an ATS-accredited M.Div. through Kairos University, with no additional class fees
- Ensure that no student needs to take out loans to pursue seminary education through Luther House of Study/Kairos
To put this in perspective: it costs Luther House of Study/Kairos less than $3,600 per year to educate one student. At other Lutheran seminaries, the average cost can be anywhere from $35,000 to well over $100,000 per year.
Our efficiency isn’t about cutting corners to achieve a goal. It’s about staying faithful to our mission by offering an accessible and sustainable education model.
Grounded in theology, focused on the Gospel
Our work is grounded in Lutheran theology, focused on the Gospel, and sustained by the generosity of those who believe in its importance.
Your gifts, prayers, and encouragement make all of this possible. They strengthen our students, support our faculty, and equip churches around the world to proclaim Christ crucified.
As we approach the end of another year, we’re grateful for all those who partner with us in this mission. Thanks to that partnership, Luther House of Study can continue providing an affordable, accessible, and deeply faithful Lutheran education—so that the Gospel may be heard anew in every generation.
